You deserve a break: Spa day at the July - Twenty Eight

What day is today? Tuesday? Friday? Sunday? Hard to say for sure, but no matter what day it is, it can be turned into a spa day. You don't need to travel to the Middle East to have a spiritual experience.

Take advantage of the wellness and sauna facilities in The July to create your own personal spa experience. Embrace self-care, pamper your body, and take the time to relax and rejuvenate.

Spas are temples in their own right, whether they're housed in ancient castles or not. Just look no further than our wellness, also known as your little private oasis only an elevator button away and conveniently open seven days a week. The services are top-notch, too.

The sauna offers more than just physical benefits. It's the perfect spot for some alone time and deep thoughts, allowing you to disconnect from the digital world and live in the now. It is a time for relaxation and self-reflection, a chance to release all the daily hassles and concerns. The sauna can be a sanctuary where you can recharge and rejuvenate both your body and mind.

Start off the day with some self-care. Sleep in, order yourself some breakfast in the room (or grab a latte at our honesty bar), and take a minute to clean and pamper your body. This is the day you should do your whole routine—maybe that means a full body exfoliation, double masking, or full steam session.

Ingredients

You probably have all your essentials with you already. But if you don’t, check the pantry. There's nothing like a DIY beauty adventure to pass the time, and besides, what else are you going to do with that avocado that’s gone bad, or the coffee grounds accumulating in your nespresso cups?

Here are the recipes we’re throwing together with what we’ve got.

Coffee scrub for an energised body

You’ll need:

  • 1 extra big tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp of any oil
  • Coffee grounds of 2 nespresso cups

A manuka mask for the glowy face

You’ll need:

  • 1 tbsp manuka honey

Coconut mask for hydrated locks

You’ll need:

  • 2 Tbsp. honey
  •  1 Tbsp. coconut oil

Shower cream for a more moisturised body

You’ll need:

  • 2 shower gel of your choice
  • 2,5 Tbsp. of any body oil

Your go-to body oil

Your favourite shower gel

A sesh à la 28

The treatment starts with a rough rub-down with a dollop of your go-to scrub, enough so that fits in the palm of your hand. Don't be afraid of it; it feels a little intense but after you will feel buttery soft. Go up each leg, then up each arm, then in circles around your abdomen. Consider this your granular exfoliation step and the first part of your massage. Turn the shower on and rinse briefly while the water is lukewarm.

As the steam envelops your little private sauna , apply a mask onto your face and hair. Let it soak all in during your sweat session. Sit in there as long as you can muster —keep a cool washcloth on ice by your side for relief. We recommend at least 12 minutes, which doesn't seem like long, but it works like a gem.

Up next, prep yourself for the less fun part. Take a cold plunge of 2-3 minutes with a gentle tug on the bucket. Cold therapies are inherently anti-inflammatory and have proven to benefit recovery from serious autoimmune diseases. Skip this step if you’re taking an evening sweat session. You see, saunas are associated with deep relaxation, where you let your body and mind loosen up and decompress.

Next, return to the shower and rinse off the mask. Grab a muslin cloth and lather it up with your favourite shower gel. Gently cleanse your legs, arms, and torso, ensuring that you remove any residue of the scrub and mask. Follow up with another round using this time a shower cream to condition your skin. This double cleanse is a testament to your commitment to self-care and is sure to leave you feeling pampered and refreshed.

As the final step, after stepping out of the shower, apply a light coat of a subtle scented body oil all over your body. Wrap yourself in our cosy robe and take a moment to relax. From the time you wake up until now, this entire routine takes about two hours. Once you've completed your pampering session, get dressed in your favourite fabrics, take a moment to relax and engage in a gentle activity that gets your body moving. You could go for a little walk outside, explore our neighbourhood guide for some lovely spots, or even do some light yoga or stretching in our gym. Whatever you choose, your morning should be spent feeling good.
